Honoring Champions of Economic Empowerment

On Thursday, October 25th, 2012, the Council for Economic Education will hold its seventh-annual Visionary Awards dinner at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City.

Each October the CEE honors leaders who promote economic and financial literacy to create a better-informed society.

2012 Visionary Awards will be presented to:

• The Honorable Sheila Bair — Former Chairman of the FDIC and currently a Senior Advisor at The Pew Charitable Trusts
• Karen Finerman — Chief Executive Officer at Metropolitan Capital and Panelist on CNBC’s Fast Money
• Mel Martinez — Chairman of JP Morgan Chase Foundation
• Duncan L. Niederauer — Chief Executive Officer and Director at NYSE Euronext

2012 McGraw-Hill Teaching Champion Awardees:

• Edward Alvarez —Assistant Principal at Thomas A. Edison Career Technical Education High School, Jamaica, Queens
• Fred Cotterell and Arlene Gardner — Board Director and President, respectively, of the New Jersey Council for the Social Studies (NJCSS)

2011 Visionary Awards Fireside Video The 2011 Visionary Awards featured a fireside chat with Sharon Epperson, CNBC Senior Commodities Correspondent and Personal Finance Correspondent, interviewing three of the honorees; Maria Bartiromo, Harold Burson and Henry Kaufman, who discussed the importance of personal finance and economic education for today’s youth, and their own stories of how they learned about money, finance and responsibility.
