The 2006 NCEE Visionary Awards Honoring Champions of Economic Empowerment
The National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) believes in empowering young people to make the very most of their lives and their human capital, by teaching them the essentials they need to know about our economic system and how to succeed in it. The NCEE, headquartered in New York City, is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit service provider and advocate for K-12 economic, personal finance and entrepreneurship education. Part of the NCEE's mission is to recognize those who have made the powerful and persuasive case that investing in human capital, through opportunity and education, is the key to self-esteem and quality of life. To that end, we proudly present the 2006 NCEE Visionary Awards on October 16th, 2006 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Sharon Epperson, CNBC Personal Finance Correspondent, is our Mistress of Ceremonies. This event, beginning with cocktails at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m., honors champions of economic empowerment, and is chaired by Craig Donohue, CEO of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The event is designed to bring attention to those who have raised awareness about the usefulness of economics, entrepreneurship and personal finance education, to the benefit of many who might never crack a textbook on the subject. It also honors those who, having succeeded in their chosen field by using sound economic decision-making, have turned that success into good public works.
