This one-day professional development program acquaints New Jersey middle school teachers and New York Global 9 & 10 teachers with the new CEE publication on Global History and Economics. Designed for middle school and adaptable to the high school classroom, the book provides 23 lessons aimed at teaching world history and economics together using active and collaborative-learning teaching methods. Lessons in the publication span the period 10,000 BC to the early 1800s, and across world cultures from the Americas to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Lessons demonstrated in this program include “The Silk Road,” “Athens and Olive Oil,” “Business in the Middle Ages: Working in a Guild,” “Christopher Columbus, Entrepreneur? Queen Isabella, Venture Capitalist?,” “What’s the Big Deal about Spices?,” and “Renaissance Banking.” Program participants will receive a copy of the book on Global History and lunch.
