Honoring Champions of Economic Empowerment

On Thursday, October 27th, 2011, the Council for Economic Education will hold its sixth-annual Visionary Awards dinner at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City.

The dinner brings together leaders in business, media, public service, and education to honor champions of economic empowerment in all of its many forms - from those who have raised awareness about the need for economic and financial literacy, to those who, having succeeded in their chosen field by using sound economic decision-making, have turned that success into good public works.

The Visionary Awards dinner helps us to support great teachers like Ken Mengani, the 2009 McGraw-Hill Teaching Champion Award winner, as seen in this video clip of his acceptance speech.

2011 Visionary Awards will be presented to:

  • Maria Bartiromo — Anchor, CNBC
  • Harold Burson — Co-founder of Burson-Marsteller, the largest public relations agency in the world today and described by PRWeek as “the century’s most influential PR figure”
  • Henry Kaufman — President of Henry Kaufman & Company, world renowned economist and author
  • John G. Stumpf — Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wells Fargo & Company
2011 McGraw-Hill Teaching Champion Awardees
  • Colleen Hoffman & KimMarie Lennon — Elementary School Teachers in Half Hollow Hills Central School District, Dix Hills, New York.
