About the Challenge

The National Economics Challenge (NEC)—a program of The Council for Economic Education—is the nation's most prestigious economics competition for high school students. The Challenge teaches and supports critical success skills which apply to any and every career option/course of study that a student may pursue.

Get your students started in economics and encourage them to enter the Challenge!

If you're just starting out, you don't have to do it alone.

Contact a Challenge Program Organizer if you have any questions. We are here to help you get started! Be sure to include the state you are inquiring about in the comments section.

What incentives are there for students to enter?

State winners advance to semi-finals and the top eight scoring teams in each division are invited to New York City in May to compete for top awards & honors in the National Finals.
